Diesel generator cooling knowledge

Air cooling method:

The air cooling method uses air as the cooling medium to transmit the heat of the heated parts of the diesel engine. This cooling method consists of a cooling fan and a guide cover.

In order to increase the heat dissipation area, many corrugated cooling fins are usually cast on the outer wall of the cylinder block, cylinder head and each radiator. During operation, the fan rotates to flow the air along the air guide hood to the surface of the cylinder block and the cylinder head. When the cold air flows through the heat sink, the heat from the cylinder block and the cylinder head is taken away.

The air-cooled cooling system has a simple structure and reduced weight, but the cooling effect is poor. It is mostly used in small diesel engines and is suitable for water shortage areas.

Water cooling method:

The water cooling method uses water as a cooling medium to transmit the heat of the heated parts of the diesel engine. The feature of this cooling method is that it is easy to adjust the cooling intensity when the air temperature or working load changes.

There are two types of water cooling: open type and closed type. In an open cooling system, the circulating water is directly connected to the atmosphere, and the steam pressure in the cooling system is always maintained at atmospheric pressure. In the closed system, the water circulates in the closed system, and the vapor pressure of the cooling system is greater than the atmospheric pressure. Since the temperature difference between the cooling water temperature and the outside air temperature increases, the heat dissipation capacity of the entire cooling system is improved.
